Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as difficulty getting or sustaining a firm erection, and it’s an incredibly common condition. According to the Urology Care Foundation, as many as 30 million men are affected by erectile dysfunction, with some sources reporting numbers as high as 50% for men between the ages of 40 and 70. ED therapy is a medicinal treatment used to help combat this difficulty. ED therapy can help men return to their normal sexual function. Here at Uptown, we offer patients a range of options for treatment, including Tadalafil, Sildenafil, and a combination of the two.
Erectile dysfunction is often caused by the early production of a special protein that signals the body to stop an erection. ED medications work by blocking that special protein from taking effect while also widening the blood vessels to increase blood flow to the penis. Both Tadalafil and Sildenafil work by softening the smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder.
ED therapy can have a wide range of impacts on your life. At Uptown Medical Wellness & Anti-Aging Center, we love ED therapy thanks to its many awesome benefits:
Both Tadalafil and Sildenafil are taken via oral tablets, but the amount of time you can expect to wait before achieving full effects is longer for Tadalafil. For Tadalafil, you should feel the full effects in up to two hours. For Sildenafil, you can expect the treatment to begin to take effect about 30 to 60 minutes after taking the medication. With Sildenafil, side effects include flushing, headaches, indigestion, congestion, and body aches. Tadalafil may also cause nausea. The effects of Sildenafil can last for up to 4 hours while the effects of Tadalafil can last for up to 36 hours.
ED therapy is a great option for men with ED looking for a way to boost their sexual function. It's important to remember that Tadalafil and Sildenafil have slightly different effects, and you can talk with a med spa clinician at Uptown to figure out which of the treatments and what dosage would best fit your needs. ED therapy might not be right for you if you have a history of heart problems or eye issues, or if you are under the age of 18. You should also let your med spa clinician know about any medications you are on, for instance, ED therapy may not be right for those taking nitrates.
