[:en]We’re well into summer and skincare has become a priority for many. Dangerous UV rays and other factors, such as pollution, can be a serious problem. Caring for your body at a time when most are showing theirs off can be quite a challenge. No worries, though. Uptown Medical Wellness & Anti-Aging Center is here to help you have a great summer without compromising your healthy glow.

If you have any questions about how we can help your skin look glowing and radiant, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Trim the Fat

A problem many people have is cutting calories in the summertime. This is usually the case since cookouts become commonplace. Throw in a salad and other low-fat sides if you can. There’s no ugly feeling worse than overeating and being extremely uncomfortable afterwards.

Summer is also a great time to go jogging if you’re planning on trimming some inches from your waist. Again, if you plan to do this, schedule your runs in the early morning or early evening when the sun begins to rise/set. That way, you’ll expose yourself to a lesser amount of harmful UV rays. If you feel like taking a different route when dieting, then consider our HCG Diet!

Have Fun Activities

Going off of what we discussed regarding ways to stay slim, instead of a dessert (which can increase your waistline) encourage your guests to bring games to play. Make a healthy snack while everyone enjoys a game of croquet or Frisbee. You’ll burn off some calories while having fun at the same time. We know that blasting away fat can be a challenge, which is why we offer SculpSure for those wanting to get rid of stubborn fat in the abdomen and love handles.

Think Before Drinking

One of the many things most people fail to recognize is the high amount of calories alcoholic drinks have. Sugary drinks, like margaritas, can have anywhere from 600 to 800 calories in one serving. We won’t fault you for wanting to indulge in these delicious beverages, but remember that they are high in calories.

Drink Plenty of Water

Make sure to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. Fruits are packed with vitamins, water and fiber, so make sure to keep them around. Do this whenever you’re having an outdoor activity, like a cookout, gardening or a jog. Staying hydrated will keep your skin looking great and glowing. If you happen to suffer sunburn, staying hydrated after will help in alleviating the irritation.

Watch Out for the Heat

If there is one thing synonymous with July in Texas, it’s the heat. Trust us, no one really wants to be outdoors in the heat for too long, especially in the Lone Star State. During summer, most people will have cookouts, meaning meals will most likely be outside. Be sure to stay in the shade or use some form of cover, such as long sleeves or a hat. Do whatever you can to minimize the amount of sunlight you expose yourself to. Sunblock is another great option. We’ll go into more detail about this in the next section.

Stay Covered

Remaining out of the sun’s bright shine is essential for any type of outdoor activity, especially in the summer. UV rays can be a problem even on cloudy days, so make sure to bring along some SPF lotion (we recommend SPF 30) and apply often. Consider a hat and some sunglasses to further protect your face from the sun’s UV rays. Your skin will be thanking you, and you’ll look stylish while doing it.
