A More In-Depth Look at the HCG Diet and How it Works

Does it seem like you’ve tried everything to lose weight and keep it off? Have you met your weight loss goal in the past and somehow gained some of it back over time? Unfortunately, this happens far too often. When you drastically reduce your caloric intake when dieting, your body will lose muscle over time. Fortunately, Uptown Medical Wellness & Anti-Aging Center in McAllen now offers the HCG Diet.

HCG stands for “human chorionic gonadotropin”, a pro-hormone commonly found in pregnant women. With plenty of studies conducted in the last century by doctors, it was found that the HCG hormone contributed in fat loss when injected.* This diet doesn’t require downtime, which means you may resume your daily routine once injected.* This is a major form of weight loss, and if you’re looking to make the drastic change this new year, now is the time to try the HCG Diet!

Look back years from now and remember finally taking a stand and changing your life for the better! Contact Uptown Medical Wellness & Anti-Aging-Center in McAllen to get started today!

The Hormone

The HCG Diet is different from many other popular drastic diets because its focus is on maintaining body muscle in order to keep the weight off. This changes the way your body loses weight because when dieting consists of cutting caloric intake in half and not weight lifting as a form of exercise, your body in time will lose its muscle.

A body without the right amount of muscle will easily gain back the fat that was lost. What sets this diet apart from others is that the HCG hormone helps stimulate your metabolism into a fat-burning process that will maintain the muscle in your body by creating an anabolic state that counteracts any muscle breakdown. This will help you get that muscle-toned body by shedding weight and helping to keep it off.*

The Diet

The HCG Diet can help you lose up to one to two pounds a day.* But how is this possible so quickly without exercise? First, while on the diet, you’re restricted to only 500 calories a day. The hormone will boost your metabolism while reducing your hunger, making it easy to consume only 500 calories daily which will contribute in large amounts of fat loss.*

What You Can Eat

The HCG meal plan suggests consuming only 500 calories per day, but by eating the right types of foods. Each meal must contain one portion of lean protein, one vegetable and a small piece of bread and fruit. This, of course, can be modified to assure that it still falls within the daily 500 calorie restricted intake. However, you aren’t allowed to consume any butter, oils or sugars. Staying hydrated is also very important with this diet.

Diet Phases

The HCG Diet consists of three different phases. The amount of weight you desire to lose and your current weight will decide how long you’ll be sticking to it. The phases include:

  1. Loading Phase: You’ll begin by taking your first injection and may indulge in plenty of high-fat, high-caloric foods for two days consecutively.
  2. Weight Loss Phase: You’ll continue to take your injections and only consume 500 calories a day. You’ll consecutively do this for three to six weeks depending on your doctor’s recommendations.
  3. Maintain Phase: You’ll conclude taking the HCG injections and gradually increase your food intake during this time, all while still avoiding sugars and starches for three weeks.

Remember, the meal plan and its duration will be based on your main weight loss goal and current weight.
