As the years go by, our skin's ability to produce more collagen and maintain its hydration gradually starts to decline. Bring in other skin-damaging factors, such as sun exposure and unhealthy eating habits, and our skin continues on a downward spiral.

Uptown Medical Wellness & Anti-Aging Center has the perfect solution, and it’s called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. This groundbreaking skin rejuvenation treatment utilizes your very own cells (from your blood) to help make new skin tissue.

A Brief History

In medicine, PRP is nothing new. The therapy has a long history of being used for dentistry, reconstructive surgery, and orthopedic medicine. It also benefits other fields including dermatology and cosmetic facial rejuvenation. Scientific studies have shown that PRP Therapy helps:

  • grow new collagen
  • minimizes skin damage
  • reverses aging skin issues

Is it for Everyone?

As with every consultation, our most important concern is your safety. We’ll inspect your skin and decide if you’re a suitable candidate for PRP Therapy. People with skin diseases, such as allergies, porphyria, or those who have systemic disorders, abnormal platelet functions, or who have cancer are not suitable.

Why PRP Therapy?

PRP Therapy is great for aging skin and promotes the growth of new cells. Maintaining healthy skin isn’t easy, but PRP Therapy helps you get there.

It may:

  • improve collagen production and tissue regeneration.
  • Lessen the appearance of dark circles or puffiness under the eyes.
  • Reduce the number of fine lines and sagging around the mouth and cheeks.

The Process

The process starts by collecting a sample of your blood and placing it in a sterile tube to separate the plasma and concentrate the platelets. From here, the platelet-rich plasma is injected into the deep dermis, or fat layer, of the skin that needs treatment.

The bioactive proteins (growth factors) found in the platelets help restore your skin’s appearance. The entire process can take up to 45 minutes depending on the areas to be treated. Visible results will appear anywhere between three to four weeks.

The process may continue to improve in the following three to six months. A second treatment might be suitable, depending on the degree of the rejuvenation required and what kind of results you’re looking for.
