DEXA stands for dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry and provides a quick and in-depth examination of how your body works.

DEXA uses a low x-ray to record your muscle thickness, bone density, and total fat tissues. It also analyzes how your body stores fat. 

This exam requires little preparation, but we ask that you:

  • Drink plenty of water beforehand
  • Wear loose clothing with no zippers, belts, or buttons
  • Avoid calcium supplements for 24 hours beforehand
